Day 12 (Act 17-18)

SCRIPTURE

Acts 18: 9-11

9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision and told him,” Don’t be afraid! Speak out! Don’t be silent! 10 For I am with you, and no one will attack and harm you, for many people in this city belong to me.” 11 So Paul stayed there for the next year and a half, teaching the Word of God.

OBSERVATION

In the time that Paul was visiting Corinth, described in this passage, Corinth was notorious for its excessive immorality and sinfulness. I don't know about you, but I would be terrified to share the Gospel in a place such as this. And based on the persecution that Paul had faced up to this point, I am sure that Paul had his own fears and reservations about preaching to these people. But God... God gave him this promise of safety and because of that, Paul spent more time in Corinth than in most other places that he went.

APPLICATION

How often do we not step out into what God has called us to do, because we are afraid? Afraid of failure… Afraid of rejection… Afraid of not being enough… Where does this fear come from? It comes from us depending on our own strength and ability. We cannot do any of the things God has called us to on our own strength and ability! But with the Holy Spirit inside of us, we can step out boldly into all that God has called us to!

PRAYER

Lord, I pray that you would give me boldness. Boldness to step into all that you have for me. I know that I was created on purpose, for a purpose! So help me to not back down due to the fear of the unknown, but stand strong on your Word and the Power of Your Holy Spirit! I pray that I would not lean on my own understanding or my own strength, but instead, lean on you to lead me in every area of my life. I give you all of the glory, all of the honor, and all of the praise. Amen!
